Chronicle: Character Forge

Effective date: June 1, 2026 · Last updated: June 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Abyss Industries LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with Chronicle: Character Forge ("Chronicle" or "the App"), available on the Apple App Store. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Chronicle does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following on our servers:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact information
  • Your character names, backstories, pronouns, or any content you create in the App
  • Your wardrobe selections, outfit combinations, or preset preferences
  • Your device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP address
  • Analytics, usage data, or crash reports transmitted to our servers
  • Location data

We have no servers, no databases, and no backend infrastructure that receives data from Chronicle.

2. Information Processed On Your Device

Chronicle processes the following information locally on your device only. This information never leaves your device and is never transmitted to Abyss Industries or any third party.

2.1 Character Data

Character names, pronouns, era and region selections, archetype choices, backstory text, outfit selections, and silhouette preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is yours and remains on your device.

2.2 Camera

Chronicle requests access to your device camera solely to enable the View on Me AR feature, which allows you to preview costumes in augmented reality using your device's camera feed. Camera data is processed in real time on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. You may deny camera access and still use all other Chronicle features including the studio silhouette preview.

2.3 Photos Library

Chronicle requests add-only access to your Photos library to save character card images and AR capture screenshots that you explicitly choose to save. Chronicle reads only the images it creates and saves. It does not read, access, or transmit any existing photos in your library.

2.4 Apple Intelligence

On eligible devices running iOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence enabled, Chronicle uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to generate character backstories and costume tips. This processing occurs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device AI. No backstory content, prompts, or outputs are transmitted to Abyss Industries or to any external server. On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence, Chronicle uses a local template system, also entirely on-device.

3. Apple and App Store

Chronicle is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain information in connection with your use of the App Store and in-app purchases, including purchase history and device information, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy available at apple.com/legal/privacy. Abyss Industries does not receive your payment information. All transactions are processed directly by Apple.

In-app purchase information, if you have an active Chronicle Pass is processed by Apple's StoreKit framework on your device. Abyss Industries does not receive or store records of your purchase beyond what StoreKit reports to the App on your device.

4. Third-Party 3D Assets

Chronicle's wardrobe catalog includes 3D assets sourced from third-party creators under Creative Commons and other open licenses. These assets are bundled within the App and do not establish any data relationship between you and the original asset creators. A full list of asset credits is available within the App under Settings > Asset Credits.

5. Children's Privacy

Chronicle is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through Chronicle, please contact us at the address below and we will take appropriate steps.

6. Data Security

Because Chronicle does not transmit your data to external servers, the primary security boundary is your device itself. We recommend using a device passcode and enabling Face ID or Touch ID to protect your device and the character data stored within Chronicle.

7. Your Rights

Because Chronicle stores all data locally on your device, you have complete control over your data at all times:

  • Delete individual characters using the void action in My Chronicles
  • Delete all Chronicle data by uninstalling the App from your device
  • Revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
  • Revoke Photos access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos

There is no account to delete and no server-side data to request because we hold no data about you.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Continued use of Chronicle after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.

9. Contact Us
